What is Karate?

KARATE-DO – Japanese term consists of two words: “kara” (empty) and “te” (hand). Together they form the phrase “empty hand”. This refers to the technique of unarmed combat with bare (“empty”), hands and feet, and all the other parts of the body. “Do” means – Way. This emphasizes that karate is not just a set of techniques of defense and attack, but a way of life by which followed and improved life.
